Elaine Lobl Konigsburg was an American writer and illustrator of children’s books and young adult fiction. She is one of six writers to win two Newbery Medals, the venerable American Library Association award for the year’s “most distinguished contribution to American children’s literature.” She was born February 10, 1930, Manhattan, New York City, NY. She died April 19, 2013, Falls Church, VA. She won many awards the John Newbery Medal, Phoenix Award, Regina Medal, Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature.
