The Mysterious Benedict Society- book 1

 The Mysterious Benedict Society

One day in the newspaper an article showed up saying ” Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?” It also said to come take a test with only one pencil and one eraser and if they came with not exactly those things they would not be allowed in.

Then later lots of kids come to take the test so then they can get those opportunities the test was a regular test on paper but it was like a puzzle because the answers were hidden in other questions. Although lots and lots of kids came only Reynie and George ( Sticky) Washington passed! Later they found out that another girl also passed, that girl was Katie Weatherall.

The group of children are ushered into a room in which they must cross from one side to the other without stepping on any blue or black squares on the tiled floor. Sticky crawls across the room on his hands and knees, keeping his feet above the ground. Kate tightrope walks, however does not pass. On her second try, she rolls on her bucket like a ball across the room. Again, she does not pass. Finally, she handstand-walks across the room. Reynie, realizing the task is a mere trick as the floor is only a set of rectangles, simply walks across the floor without effort.

Then they need to go past a dark maze and ring a bell on the stairs that is how they will know that you are done with the maze. Reynie figured out the pattern, Sticky happened to just find his way out, and Katie went through the heating vents. Since Sticky just got out by luck they made him do it again but he finished it even faster because he has a photographic memory so he remembered how he got out.
