The Old Kingdom, or Abhorsen in North America, is a fantasy series written by Australian author Garth Nix. It originated in 1995 with the novel Sabriel and has continued in the novels Lirael and Abhorsen. It is in the Old Kingdom Series along with Sabriel, Lirael, and Clariel. In the book Sabriel it talks about Abhorsen, well the one before Sabriel. That is because Sabriel is in the bloodline of all the Abhorsens.

Garth Richard Nix is an Australian writer who specializes in children’s and young adult fantasy novels, notably the Old Kingdom, Seventh Tower and Keys to the Kingdom series. He was born on July 19, 1963, Melbourne, Australia. Right now he is 55 years old. One movie he made is The Missing Key. The awards he got are Aurelius Award for best young adult novel, Aurelius Award for best fantasy novel.
